Hello,

I have previously seen the following thread:

Bluetooth v5.1 EZ-Serial F/W of CYBLE-022001-00

Cypress's Answer

The Ez-BLE modules that we are shipping at present supports BLE spec 4.2 features. Updating the Ez-serial firmware to BLE 5.1 in Ez-BLE modules is not possible because our Ez-BLE chip will have space issues (especially modules with 128 KB flash) and the chip does not support BLE 5.1 new feature.

Is the "CYBLE-022001-00 EZ-Serial FW Image V1.1.1 (.hex)" provided below an F/W (hex file) generated by a Version 4.1 BLE Component that supports CYBLE-022001-00?

https://www.cypress.com/documentation/software-and-drivers/ez-serial-ez-ble-module-firmware-platform

In addition, CYBLE-022001-00 is described as compliant with v5.1 as shown below.

https://www.cypress.com/file/140791/download

Therefore, if you purchase CYBLE-022001-00 now, is the pre-programmed EZ-Serial F/W written with a v5.1 compliant F/W?

It is not necessary to support the optional future of v4.2 and v5.0 / v5.1, and I think that it should be compiled with BLE Component v3.66.

Best regards,

Takahashi

Hello,

Current EZ-Serial FW was developed based on BLE component 3.3 (PSoC Creator 4.1) which supports BLE Spec 4.2. The system_boot (BOOT, ID=2/1) API event will show the BLE stack component version as shown below.
********************************
@E,003B,BOOT,E=0101011A,S=030300FA,P=0103,H=05,C=01,A=00A050421A63
--> S=03030035 – the BLE stack component version is 3.3.0 build 53 (0x35)
********************************
Current we have limited room in shipped EZ-Serial FW(PSoC based) especially 128K modules. Update to newest stack may hit the room issue and the chip does not support BLE 5.1 new feature.

Thanks,
P Yugandhar.

Can I think of "limited room" as the Flash capacity limit of PSoC4 BLE?
