I have trouble using FX3 in Windows 10 32-bit OS.

Using Cypress FX3 driver from SDK 1.3.4, but appears to be good only for 64-bit OS.

Would like to find the FX3 driver for 32-bit.

Please help.

Hello William,

Please try manually binding the device to the x86 driver in the FX3 SDK.

You can do this by following the below steps:

1. Right click on the device in the device manager.

2. Select Update driver -> Browse my computer for driver software ->   Let me pick from a list of available driver on my computer -> Have Disk -> Browse.

3. Browse to the x86 driver folder in the FX3 SDK.

path: <installation directory>\Cypress\EZ-USB FX3 SDK\1.3\driver\bin\Win10\x86

and select the cyusb3.inf file.

4. Click OK.

5. Select the proper model

6. Click on Next

This will install the proper driver.

Restart the computer if needed.

Let me know if you face any issues.

Thanks,

Yatheesh

Hello,

Can you please send me the screen shot of the error reported in the device manager.

You can check this by double clicking on the FX3 device in the device manager.

Also, try manually binding the device to the proper driver under x86 folder from the FX3 SDK.

Please make sure that the Operating System is 32-bit.

Thanks,

Yatheesh

Hi Yatheesh,

Does it matter whether I install the SDK on a 32-bit machine or 64-bit machine?

I installed it on a 64-bit development machine, then copy the “driver” folder to the 32-bit target machine.

Thanks.

Hello William,

If you install the SDK on a PC, the drivers will be installed during the installation process.

Since you copied only the driver folder to a different PC, you will need to manually bind the device to the driver the first time.

Next time you connect the device to the PC the device will be automatically get bound to the driver which you previously bound manually, or installed using an installer.

Note: Manually binding the driver will also install the driver on that system, so the next time you plug in the device to the PC the device will automatically bind to the driver.

Currently installed driver on the PC can be found in the path: C:\Windows\System32\drivers

Can you please let me know if manually binding the driver worked?

Thanks,

Yatheesh

Hi Yatheesh,

That worked.

We did reinstall the SDK on the target 32-bit system first.

Question remains: Does it matter whether I install the SDK on a 32-bit machine or 64-bit machine?

Thanks for your help.

Hello William,

Yes, it does depend on the OS architecture of host PC on which the SDK is installed.
