Good afternoon, there is a 20V 60W power adapter project. We want to buy the CY4532 EZ-PD, only there, as I understand it, you can use a maximum of 12V, is there an opportunity for a test to supply externally 20V power? power is not important for tests. thank

Hi,
The DC Jack can not be used to power EVK from voltage greater than 12V. Alternative solution is to use the DC terminal on the EVK. The hardware modification suggested is just to enable the usage of DC terminal.
Please follow the steps below to enable usage of DC Terminal.
a. Remove the power supply or the battery connected to CY4532 EVK.
b. Detach the CY4532 Main Board from the CY4532 Power Board.
Note: To remove the CY4532 Main Board, hold it around the longer edges of the board and lift it up.
c. De-populate the 0-Ω resistor located at R5 and populate the same at R1.
d. De-populate the 0-Ω resistor located at R54 and populate the same at R42.
e. Mount the CY4532 Main Board on the CY4532 Power Board.

Hi,
The CY4532-EVK can be externally powered from 20V power source. You need to modify the kit hardware as mentioned in the "Update the hardware for VCONN operation" section of the KBA Frequently Asked Questions on CY4532 CCG3PA Kit – KBA226613
Please make sure you power up the EVK from DC Terminal J2 instead of the DC Jack J3 on the EVK Power board.

And then through J2 DC Terminal 20V will go through the mosfet to the vbus type C connector?

Hi,
20V supplied through J2 DC Terminal is used as input to a voltage regulator. The output of the regulator (controlled by CCG3PA) depends on the PDO requested by the sink connected to the Type-C receptacle.

Hi,
If you are referring to 20V PDO for the CY4532-EVK, you can still do so with a 12V supply through the DC Jack. You just need to make sure that the power supply is capable of supplying the advertised power (60W for a 20V 3A PDO).

Hi, that is, apply 20 V instead of 12V to the DC Jack?
