Hi.
My customer use PSoC 4100S Plus (CY8C4147AZI-S455 or CY8C4127AZI-S455).
I understand , the maximum source current per GPIO pin should be less than or equal to 4mA and maximum sink current per GPIO should be less than 8mA.
Maximum current per GPIO is -25mA to +25mA.
Can GPIO source current be used at 16mA?
My customer wants to pass a little big current.

Hi taas_3144281,
Yes, like you said the maximum current per GPIO is -25mA to +25mA. So it can source a current of 16 mA.
You can also gang-up pins if you need more current.
Please refer to these threads for more information regarding this -

Dear Rakshith M B-san
Thank you for your answer.
Is it bad for a device to sink current of 16mA each with multiple GPIOs?
For example, is the life of the device shortened?
I understand that the maximum total source or sink chip current 200mA.
Best Regards,
Asanuma

Hi taas_3144281,
Exposure to Absolute Maximum conditions for extended periods of time may affect device reliability.
As 16mA is under 25mA (absolute maximum) this should not affect the life of the device.
Please ensure that the total current does not exceed 200mA.

Dear Rakshith M B-san
Thank you for your answer.
Sorry, it was not a sink current but a source current.
Since the source current of 16mA is within the absolute maximum, can I assume that there is no adverse effect on the device?
Best Regards,
Asanuma

Dear Rakshith M B-san
Thank you for your answer.
I am glad that I do not have to worry about those for GPIO current.
Best Regards,
