Hello,
Please use an EEPROM of 128 KB or higher size. For example, our reference design uses MX25V2035FM1I EEPROM (256 KB) by Macronix.

The MX25V2035FM1I is listed as not recommended for new designs by the manufacturer. https://www.macronix.com/en-us/flash-memory-solutions/known-good-die/Pages/spec.aspx?p=MX25V2035FWJ&...
Are SPI interface and 128KB or larger the only requirements for the memory? For example is there frequency requirement so that the part is compatible with the currently released firmware?
Thanks,

Hello,
The frequency requirement for the SPI interface is around 25 MHz so the memory device should be able to support that. Apart from the MX25V2035FM1I, we also recommend the following parts-
1. S25FL064 by Spansion
2. W25Q80JV by Winbond

The Windond part is also obsolete. I'll use the Spansion part.
Thank you for your quick response.
