The nice feature having the UART to D+/D- mux built-in is great.

What's the best way to trigger that mode from the outside?

related: do we need to build our own break-out boards for this or are there some existing solutions to get the usb-cables d+/d- -> "uart" to a header?

Hi,

It is not possible to trigger it from outside, you need to control it from firmware.

You will have to build your own board for this.

got it! I was thinking if it used alt-mode for debug or custom vendor PD packages to enable it (from the outside)

Hi,

That can be done, but standard firmware doesn't have it enabled by default. Customized firmware, you can read VDM's and firmware can control it.
