Hi,

I think you are talking about the USB-Serial Software Development Kit in the "Software Title" below

https://www.cypress.com/documentation/development-kitsboards/psoc-4-cy8ckit-049-4xxx-prototyping-kit...

002-Development-kit.JPG

But before you proceed further, let me suggest you this.

Although CY8CKIT-049 may be the most affordable PSoC Evaluation Board,

it is NOT the easiest Evaluation Board to use.

Most of the PSoC Evaluation Boards has on board debugger called "KitProg"

but CY8CKIT-049 does not.

To follow Mr. Alan's course, using CY8CKIT-042 or the board he is using in the course will be easier.

Or even using CY8CKIT-043, which I talk about below may be easier than CY8CKIT-049.

(Edited/added)

======================

At the time I was writing the above I did not know that

there is PSoC Creator 101: CY8CKIT-049 Prototyping Kit Getting Started, probably it requires PSoC Creator v3.x.

I was referencing to PSoC Creator 101, which uses CY8CKIT-042

https://www.cypress.com/video-library/psoc-software/psoc-creator-101-lesson-1-introduction/108311

Still I think that to learn PSoC and PSoC Creator using KitProg/MiniProg is much easier especially for the beginners.

Yes, you can use PSoC Creator v4.2 for CY8CKIT-049 but probably you need

either MiniProg3 or KitProg to program and debug the board in easier way.

MiniProg3 costs close to $100.00

https://www.cypress.com/documentation/development-kitsboards/cy8ckit-002-psoc-miniprog3-program-and-...

But you can get KitProg by purchasing any PSoC evaluation board which has KitProg.

According to Bob-san, CY8CKIT-043 is the most affordable one.

(So I purchased a half dozen of them from  DigiKey for my use ;-P)

https://www.cypress.com/documentation/development-kitsboards/cy8ckit-043-psoc-4-m-series-prototyping...

CY8CKIT-043 looks like below.

003-CY8CKIT-043.JPG

Note that there are 5 signal patterns are printed between the head (KitProg) part and Body (the PSoC 4) part.

CY8CKIT-049 has only 4 signal patterns as it has only USB-Serial interface there.

To use KitProg as standalone debugger, I remove KitProg from the board,

and I soldered sockets for jumper connection.

003-CY8CKIT-043-separated.JPG

Then the last 5 pins in J2 of CY8CKIT-049 are exact match with the KitProg's SWD(debugger) side pins.

SWDIO

SWDCLK

RST

GND

VDD

So if you jumper 5 wires between these pins, you can program and debug CY8CKIT-049 from PSoC Creator.

I made a jig to connect them

IMG_4022.JPG

Meantime, as P12[6] and P12[7] of KitProg works as USB-Serial interface just like the one

comes with CY8CKIT-049, we can jumper them to UART pins of CY8CKIT-049.

(Note: The USB-Serial of my CY8CKIT-049 has been removed)

But IMHO, using CY8CKIT-043 or CY8CKIT-042 (or CY8CKIT-044) "as is" will be much easier

and save you time and effort.

Welcome in the fascinating world of PSoCs!

I am not quite sure what files you are referring as "Kit Installer". Can you please provide us with some screenshots showing what you tried and what did happen.

Starting with that prototype kit can be quite  difficult. The CY8CKIT-043 has debugging capabilities which makes life quite a lot easier.

Hello Bob,

Thanks for replying me.

So, I was following the tutorial series by Mr. Alan Hawse. In the first tutorial only Mr. Alan mentioned about kit installer so I was looking for that and than I found kit installer but that was only for earlier versions of PSOC.
