I'm about to start working with this MCU. In the process of development of the device we are working on, while the hardware is being designed and built, so we can start working on the final device, we need to start prototyping the functionality we need to implement. To do that we need a EVK. The one which belongs to the family of our final MCU is CY8CKIT-149 PSoC 4100S Plus Prototyping Kit, and I need to assure two things before we buy anithing:
- Is the CY8CKIT-149 "compatible in terms of programming" with the CY8C4146LQE, or there is any evaluation board more alike to our selected MCU?
- The CY8CKIT-149 includes a programmer board with USB interface that allows programming and debugging features. Is this board able to program also the CY8C4146LQE or there is a dedicated programmer needed?

HI,

CY8CKIT-149 has CY8C4147AZI-S475 which is PSoC 4 4100S Plus device,
and you are planning to use CY8C4146LQE-S423 which is PSoC 4 4100S device.
Anyway, below is my comparison of CY8C4146LQE-S423 and CY8C4147AZI-S475.
IMHO, as they seem to be reasonably close,
as far as you keep the usage of resource within the limit of CY8C4146LQE-S423,
retargeting the device of the project won't be very difficult.

I think that the KitProg2 part of the CY8CKIT-149 should be able to be used to program and debug other PSoC 4.

Hi,
Adding to what moto said, Cypress does provide prototyping kit for PSoC 4100S device . Please check " CY8CKIT-041-41XX PSoC 4100S CapSense Pioneer Kit " on Cypress website for more details. Please go to the following link:
This is specially designed for PSoC 4100S , and so you can use this kit for your purpose.
Best Regards,
Ashish
