Hi,

I am migrating from MT28EW128ABA1HPC-0SIT to S29GL128P90FFIR12. System boots up from this memory. There are some images stored in memory. Systems is able to display images one by one until it crashes.

It will run fine displaying images until it hits a page boundary and then the system will display a half image and then the controller gets lost.

Can you help in identifying differences in these parts so that anything needs to change in flash configuration can be known.

Thanks.

Hi,

To help you further with this case, we would like to know some more details about your application.

1. How many images are stored in our flash memory? What is the size of each image?

2. What is the command sequence that you follow to program images into the flash memory?

3. Are you able to read the programmed images immediately after programming them?

4. How many devices are showing this behavior? Are you observing it with all of the devices that you tested?

Thanks and Regards,

'1)      Our current solution stores 45 images

2)      The images are each 1920x1080, 8-bit  2MB.  The solution binary that we ultimately program is ~5.6MB because our images are highly compressible.

3)      The failure is always at the 7th image in our solution.

4)      I can dump the entire 48MB memory space using the JTAG programmer.

We are using the S29GL128P90FFIR1, our VIO range is 3.0 to 3.6. However while most boards with the Spansion part at CS1 will have the image problem we have found one board with the Spansion part at CS1 that does not have the image problem and that part is from a separate Spansion lot. While we have one example of a Spansion that does work from a different lot, that does not give us a lot of confidence. In order to gain confidence we would have to take some boards here and re-work with new Spansion parts from a lot other than the one we think we have problems with.

Hi,

Thank you for the details. Could you please let us know the top markings of working and not-working cypress flash devices?

Thanks and Regards,
