The BCM4339 integrated in the LGE G4 Phones is actually supported by Broadcom.

Could you provide some information on the SW/FW version of the BT that is present in the G4?
Which version of Android are you getting the error.?
Regards,
Vinayak

Hello VinayakS_26 and really thanks to help us...!
SW/FW version: Version: 6.37.34.43 CRC: 20a798b1 Date: Tue 2016-05-24 10:32:18 PDT Ucode Ver: 855.1041 FWID: 01-96a5b4bb
Android version: 8.0, 8.1, 9.0 (worked fine in 7.x though)
Example config (changed it locally for all tests): https://github.com/Suicide-Squirrel/...16.0/bluetooth
When using I2S (SCO_USE_I2S_INTERFACE = TRUE) I can hear the other site just fine but the other site has distorted sound
When using the default PCM mode (SCO_I2SPCM_IF_MODE = 1) my site has distorted sound but the other site can hear me fine
My guess is that there might be a better chance to use I2S but then it might need adjustments in mixer_paths (https://github.com/Suicide-Squirrel/...ixer_paths.xml) which I am not sure about the how though.
it makes no diff if configured as master or slave.
I also played around a lot with sample rates, clock rates (based on the PDF I have attached here: https://github.com/Suicide-Squirrel/...ment-489588554) and such but nothing I had tried had any success. see again the comment here: https://github.com/Suicide-Squirrel/...ment-489588554 which options I played around with
