Hello,
There is a difference between the signals of CC1 and CC2 in the DRP (Rp - Rd toggle) state due to the difference in FW version below.
- FW 1.0.3.516
- FW 3.2.1.1658
* VDDD of CCG3 : 3.3V
Q1) Please tell me why the waveform differs depending on FW version.
Q2) Is it possible to make the same waveform as Version 1.0.3.516 in the Config Table setting of CCG3?
Best regards,
Takahashi

Hi Takahashi-san,
Thank you for your clarification. I understood your concern.
Since you have not attached the file, I could not find the actual voltage level on your side. However, I hope that CC lines toggle voltage level on FW 3_2_1_1658 reaches around 2.4V.
This is a CC voltage value that a Source shall use to detect what is attached based on Type-C Spec.Kindly use latest FW which can follow new Type-C Spec.
I do not recommend you to use FW 1_0_3_516 because it is old version.
Although it is possible to create 3.3V CC toggle by modifying FW source code, I do not recommend for the above reason.

Hi Takahashi-san,
I also checked each following Application FW.
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Cypress\CY4531 CCG3 EVK\1.0\Firmware\CYPD3125-40LQXI_notebook_one_1_0_3_516_0_0_0_nb.cyacd"
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Cypress\EZ-PD CCGx Host SDK\CCGx\Firmware\binaries\CYPD3125-40LQXI_notebook\CYPD3125-40LQXI_notebook_one_3_2_1_1658_0_0_0_nb.cyacd"
Both FW can toggle CC1 and CC2. I am not able to find the difference between these FW.
Could you please elaborate your question/environment/etc.? Also, hopefully, kindly check the FW behavior on your side again.
Best regards,
Hirotaka Takayama

Hi Takayama-san,
The evaluation board is CY4531.
I observe the signals of Pin 5 (CC 1) and Pin 6 (CC 2) of J9 (Debug connector) of CY4531 Base Board with an oscilloscope.
I am programming each of the above two types of FW.
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Cypress\CY4531 CCG3 EVK\1.0\Firmware"
- CYPD3125-40LQXI_notebook_one_1_0_3_516_0_0_0_nb.cyacd
- CYPD3125-40LQXI_notebook_two_1_0_3_516_0_0_0_nb.cyacd
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Cypress\EZ-PD CCGx Host SDK\CCGx\Firmware\binaries\CYPD3125-40LQXI_notebook"
- CYPD3125-40LQXI_notebook_one_3_2_1_1658_0_0_0_nb.cyacd
- CYPD3125-40LQXI_notebook_two_3_2_1_1658_0_0_0_nb.cyacd
The program (Firmware Update) uses the EZ-PD Configuration Utility.
And at the time of Update, it uses the option "Use bootloarder to flash".
Waveform observed without changing the configuration table of each FW for the above environment are the attached waveform.
In FW 1_0_3_516, High remains at 3.3 V.
In FW 3_2_1_1658, once it reaches 3.3 V, it becomes around 2.7 V.
Q1) In FW 3_2_1_1658, I would like to know the reason why such a waveform is obtained.
Q2) Is there a setting to make it the same waveform as FW 1_0_3_516?
Best regards,
Takahashi
