We are planning on using a CYUSB332x Hub controller for a new product.  There will be a USB 3.0 Host tablet to connect to devices through this hub.  The tablet will be the Host, but we want the Hub to also charge the tablet.  Typically, a Host device would provide power to the devices, but in our case we want the host to receive power to charge it's own battery.

Can this be done?  If so, how?  What are the requirements?

Thanks for any advice.

Steve

Hello Steve,

Yes, HX3 supports ACA-Dock feature (Accessory Charging Adapter Dock) compliant with BC v1.2 standard which enables VBUS on the upstream port provided the tablet is an OTG host. The feature can be configured using the Pin strap configuration or loading the configuration from an I2C slave such as an EEPROM which in turn can be programmed by the Blaster Plus Utility. For more details please refer to the following Knowledge base article and the datasheet.

Best Regards,
