Well, to be more precisely, dead on the day after it arrived. All 4 kits of them.
I was quite happily to receive the ordered all 4 of CY8CKIT-142 kits yesterday
and do some quite VDDx-GND check with ohm measuring with Agilent U1242A.
All 4 kits with all their VDDA/-R/-D behaved normally (measured around dozens
of k-ohms back and forth). Then it was stored in a PP box, a way
(or kind of boxes) was used for keeping many eval-board here for years.
Then the most weird thing happened: earlier this morning when I was about to start
using these kits, I found all their VDDx-GND are shortened, i.e. lesser than
5 ohms was measured when I did the same test, with same instrument as yesterday!
And it was further confirmed when I tried to supply power to it: I got 200 mA passed
even the voltage is not over 0.5 V! I am quite sure that there should be no ANY
additional operating from yesterday to this morning.
I am running a project of some consumer goods and used to enjoying what was
provided by cypress. However, I cannot be sure if I should rely on something so
unpredictable like this! All 4 dead on the day after arrival really surprised me.
Please, is there anyone in cypress could help me?

Hi Carl
For the RMA: Please contact mouser(as you memtioned in case, you buy it from mouser) for RMA. As I know mouser have the tunuel for RMA.
Taiwan support: Firstly I recommend you to contact cypress distributor. Our distributors have the FAE/Sales who will follow your project and solved your problems. Distributor's info link:http://www.cypress.com/cypress-franchised-distributors
click the distributor's icon to navigate to distributor's web.

Well, my sympathy. Seems 4 is an unlucky number.
Generally, I used 3 CY8Ckit042-BLE for about 2.5 years without any issue. Maybe 3 is the lucky number.
First, CY8CKIT-142 is the PSoC BLE module, it's can be plugged into CY8CKIT-042-BLE. So your order is CY8CKIT-142 not CY8CKIT-042-BLE, right?
Second, have you try to program the CY8CKIT-142? Does it works?
Three, the reasons for the damage in my heads:
1. Check the welding of chip, make sure no shorted with VCC to GND.
2. ESD damage.

Jenson (yans) :
mmm..maybe it's merely just some bad luck. Just ordered another 2
since I hope it can be used in my consumer product project to save spaces.
It will be the last chance for this chip..if it failed again, I will be forced to
turn my back on cypress..
To your questions:
1st: yes, they are CY8CKIT-142s.
2nd: can't do that. Because it won't power up. VCCx-GNDs are shorted,
measured sub 3 ohms and can be 200mA @ 0.3V. Not the way it should be.
3rd:
1.there's unlikely any short between pins of the MCUs;
2.humidity is 70% +/-10 approx. There should be no ESD damage IMHO?
The only thing I have done is connecting multimeter in resistor mode to
kits' VCCx/GND pins.

Per my view the new one should works normally.
Move the chip out of the PCB to locate the reason that result to the short.

Hello Jenson,
received your reply from case mail. Let's continue the discussion in the community per your suggestion.
Won't removing it from PCB void warranty or the condition satisfactory for a RMA? (if there is any)
And the most important thing I would like to know:
is there any sales representative or support available in Taiwan? If yes, could you please let someone
here make a direct contact to me? Since this will be an ODM project that will easily over 10k+ pcs,
I think forming a direct contact instead of "community" discussion will be more formal, direct, and
convenient, especially when the project is going to mass production.
Best,
Carl

Hi Jenson,
thanks for the info. Now I know there's more distributors in Taiwan.
Previously I only found 2 local distributors and 1 (EDOM) of them has already ceased
distributing:
Taiwan | Cypress Semiconductor
Will take further investigations and experiments after new 142 kits arrived and talk to these
local distributors.
Best,
Carl
