Hi,
I made some projects with PSoC 4 and now I'm playing around with my recently received CY8CKIT-059. One of the things I want to try out is the EMIF in asynchronous mode. Since the datasheets, user manuals etc all use different timing diagrams for the control signals, I decided to measure them in relation to the EMIF clock and used a clock component which is based on the bus clock (and therefore is the same as EMIF clock). So it's not a new clock signal, it already exists. The corresponding pin is configured as push-pull.
Now, the problem is I can only see a clock signal if the clock is a new one, not the derived one. With BusClk I can only see some veeeery small spikes. Is this expected behavior or a bug? In the clock component datasheet, I couldn't find anything which doesn't allow to output a 'existing' clock on a port pin. I'm using PSoC Creator 3.2.
Regards,
Ralf

Did you watch the max frequency of 33MHz?

Did you follow this to output clock to a pin ?
I have been able to putput 48 Mhz to a pin, but it looks poor.
Regards, Dana.

Hello Bob & Dana,
@Bob:
Yes, the maximum speed of GPIOs was observed. The initial bus clock was set to 1kHz to allow for easy measurement. Sorry, I forgot to mention it.
@Dana:
Thank you for the links. But those are related to PSoC 4, the CY8CKIT-059 is a PSoC 5LP kit.
Regards,
Ralf

Pleas drop us your project archive, so I can program my -059 kit.

Hi Bob,
I just want to ask if you want to take a look at the project 🙂

Your project got dropped off with the forum software change, you need to upload again.
Also consider filing a CASE if no one answers -
To create a technical or issue case at Cypress -
www.cypress.com
“Support”
“Technical Support”
“Create a Case”
You have to be registered on Cypress web site first.
Regards, Dana.

Did you create a MyCase?

Hi Bob,
I've not created a case yet, because I first wanted to have this behaviour confirmed. I don't like to create a case for everything coming up prior to have it checked by the community.

Ralf

I would file a CASE, I cannot find anything in TRM, other than bus clock does have
different routing characteristics, but no pin specific info.

Hi Dana,
I will file a case, but in the first step I simply want to have this behaviour confirmed by another user. However, since no one has tried the attached project it seems filing a case would be the only option.

Ralf
