Hi All
I am using a PSoC 4 Prototyping kit for a project. My system has to work on 5 Volt. When I connect the kit and other hardware to Miniprog3 and program the kit from the Creator, The project works as per the set goals. But when I disconnect the Miniprog3 after programming and give separate 5 Volt supply to the hardware, the project does not work. I have changed the VDDA and VDDD to 5 Volt in the .cydwr file System configuration as I wanted to configure ADC on 5 Volt reference. Any solution to this would be appreciated.

From your post I deduct that you are using a CY8C-049-4xxx Prototyping kit.
When programming and debugging with MiniProg3 works as expected, the only changes appear to be the 5V supply.
Can you please check your 5V for stability (ripple, noise, tolerance) using a scope and the usual test-methods

or this (049) -
or this (044) ?

maybe I'm wrong, but I thought that the -42 and the -44 are named "Pioneer", while the -49 is named "Prototype"

@Bob: I am using an Industrially tested power supply, so durability is not an issue.

Nonetheless I would suggest you to check the 5V power on the board.

@bobgoar: I am afraid to say but your post on the thread is not readable and so I could not understand what you tried to convey. Can you please re-post your suggestions?
@all: I can not find any solution to the problem yet. Though when I put on my power supply instead of Miniprog3, give a momentary GROUND to the reset and then give HIGH to reset, the circuit works. I do not want to manually GROUND the Reset each time I power ON the circuit. This is the first time I am facing this situation, so any help would be highly appreciated.

There are restrictions in the specs of the PSoC regarding power-up ramp. It might turn out that the supply does not come up fast enough. Can you generate a Power-Good signal to use it for XRes?

have you changed the setting for the miniprong
In the tools->options->program/Debug->port configuration
It might be set wrong

What are those specs, I cannot find any other than min operating levels,
nothing related to ramp time....

have you checked that the poly switch is working?
A few ohms when unplugged checking for a near dead short between the pads.
Also make sure your getting 5 ish volts after the poly switch

The spec is a maximum ramp rate, not a minimum. Maybe CASE will resolve that as well.

Shauna What I was trying to tell you with the spec posts on the PSOC 4 devices is that you need a good regulated power source for your board. I agree with the others that it could be a slew rate issue on your supply. I do not know that kind of supply you are using so we can only guess at your issue. Do you have a scope so you can look at the power source for the ripple and slew rates? I am from the old school you can never have too good of a supply for your design. Also sometimes more caps are needed to fix the issue. So you can shunt the issues to ground but without a scope you are shooting in the dark. .
