When you like to run your PSoC1 on battery the switch mode pump will provide a regulate3.0, 3.3 or 5.0V for the chip and some periphertals. All you need is an inductance of ~20mH and a schottky diode. Have a look at the datasheet i.e. cy29x66-i Page 26.
