Hi All,
We are developing an battery powered device based on BCM20736S ble module. In our prototype the BCM consumes round about 65 µA while advertising in intervals of 3 seconds. At this point of development I have a few questions:
>Am I guessing right that the controller enters sleepmode between this advertisements automatically?
>Is it possible to reduce power consumption below 65µA without turning off advertisements or increasing intervals?
>Can power consumption be reduced by entering deep sleep mode between advertisements with 3s intervals?
Thanks a lot,
Udo

Your measurements seem inline with what j.t measured during this test: BCM20737 Power Consumption Behavior-Part 1
Deep_Sleep (HIDOFF) is not supported while the connection is up. However, a connection can be kept when sleep is enabled (but not when deep sleep engages). When the device is connected/scanning/advertising, it will always sleep between RF activity if the application allows it and there is sufficient time before the next scheduled activity.
There is alot of good information here in the section of threads classified under the sleep category, some even include sample code and explain how to verify the device is actually in sleep mode: WICED Smart Forums

Hello Udo,
Deep Sleep between advertisements is not advisable.
Power may be reduced using a DC/DC converter.
