I'm not sure which board that is you are using. I will ask someone from our team in Asia to respond.
The boards we normally support here on the forum are included here in this document: BCM2073X Product Portfolio (Module and Evaluation Board Overview)

1. Specific to the 20732S, which is using the original firmware, you will want to consult the PUART example within the WICED™ Smart Hardware Interfaces document, along with the sample in the SDK: /WICED-Smart-SDK/Apps/uart_firmware_upgrade
In addition, SDK 2.2 introduced an application called puart_control which does this exact thing well, but it will not work on the 20732S. Not sure if an ugrade is possible.
2.
There is no Find Me Profile.
Either proximity and proximity_client are what I think you need.

The FTDI and Silicon Labs chips are USB to Serial converters.
The FTDI part is used with the TAG3 development board.
The Silicon Labs part is used with the WICED Sense Evaluation Board.
Neither is technically required within a production design (the PUART is a simple UART implementation)
However, many use FTDI Serial to USB cables to program the SIP modules in production from a PC.

Please describe what board is being connected to your PC (TAG3, WICED Sense, Etc.) and with what cable (FTDI USB to Serial Cable, 1.8V or 3V version).
Not that if this is a custom design, the state if the HCI Uart line is critical.
This thread offers a tremendous amount of insight related to programming a custom design: Re: Programming the BCM20736S on a custom PCB
