The application note AN72382 introduces you to effectively use the GPIO pins in PSoC 3 and PSoC 5. Major topics include GPIO basics, configuration, mixed-signal use, registers, interrupts, and low-power behavior.
The any-signal-to-any-pin routing available with the PSoC 3 and PSoC 5 GPIOs can help optimize PCB layout, shorten design time, and allows for a large degree of solder-less rework. However, with this freedom comes a steeper learning curve than with a traditional microcontroller.
