 Hey there,

I have a CY8KIT-050. For some reason, windows is now refusing to recognize the device. It knows something is there, but it shows up as "Unknown Device" and has no driver. The  PSOC Creator finds nothing when I try to program it. Everything worked last week, but this week something has gone wrong. Perhaps an update?

How do I solve this problem?

Thanks

Some issues I've red about had to do with the USB-cable, try to exchange that.

I have had problems like that, and varients of the below, none predictable,

solved the problem -

1) Unplug board, power down, unistall driver in windows, power up board,

plug in cable.

2) Uninstall driver, reboot.

3) Totally uninstall all software, erase all remaining Creator (not project) directories, reinstall.

4) Update windows. Then try a driver reinstall.

No magic bullets.

Regards, Dana.

I don't know where to even find the right driver. Everything I try just spits out "Windows cant find a driver."

Where should I be looking for these?

I have uninstalled and reinstalled PSOC Creator and everything that encompasses but I cant get it to recognize the board. Where should I be looking?

Look at attached screen shot, shows location where driver was installed for PSOC 3

DVK.

If not there search your machine for the file, PSoCUSB.sys.

Thanks for the help Dana. I owe you a good meal, should we ever meet.

So I found the PSoCUSB.sys but windows wont do anything with it. I've then tried using a different  computer that the board has worked with before and still nothing. Same driver error.

I have no idea what I did, but I think the problem lies in the board. Do I need to go about reprogramming it or something? I don't believe it is faulty, as it was working perfectly last week.

I'm trying another uninstall right now. Everything. Drivers, programs, anything I can find labelled "Cypress" and then I'll reboot and try installing one more time. After that I'm going home until monday.

Before you go home file a tech case, www.cypress.com. Point them to this thread.

One other possibility, uninstall pogrammer, and re-install. It is, I think,

the driver installer for DVKs.

And to answer your question, I am not aware of any board specific firmware

updates, all the updates under Cypress update manager handle interface

SW updates, and of course the main tools, like Designer, Creator, Programmer.

I submitted a support ticket yesterday. Hopefully they will get back to me soon. I just updated it with a link to this thread.

I think you are right that the drivers are handled by the programmer. I saw something to that effect as I was snooping around looking for a driver.

I'll keep you updated if I get any changes.

Hi hxinyu

Cypress tech support is very help full in this things.
Can you file a case with them and add some screen shots to provide them as much as possible details?
With this you probably get the fastest solution as well as the support team can report back to the software people.
This might enable them to harden the system against issues like this.

I had similar cases and can only report the best about tech support 😉

All the Best
