Segment LCD drive using PSoC1
PSoC1, in addition to other major tasks, can also be configured to drive multiplexed segment LCDs without using any external components. This results in system integration and lower system cost. To simplify the design process, PSoC Designer provides “SLCD” user module. SLCD module makes it extremely easy to interface segment LCDs with PSoC1 device. It has following features:
- Drives multiplexed LCDs with 2, 3 and 4 commons
- Configurable 30Hz to 150Hz refresh rate
- Supports Type A waveform
- Contrast control
- Supports 7-segment, 14-segment, 16-segment and special symbols
- Provides two techniques to drive segment LCDs
- AMUX drive method
- GPIO drive method
The details of LCD drive techniques and other various settings of SLCD user module are discussed in application note AN56384- PSoC1 Segment LCD direct drive. This application also gives step by step procedure to create PSoC Designer project using SLCD user module.
