Question: In designing a USB device using EZ-USB(AN21xx/FX/FX1/FX2/FX2LP), we need to protect the firmware from being copied. Is it possible?
Answer:
Yes, It is possible. You can protect the firmware by having another microprocessor which boot loads the EZ-USB or you can have your entire firmware (EA=1 configuration) reside in an external memory which has the facility of fuse to avoid code from being copied.
