PSoC® Designer™ Is Not Responding On a PC with Kaspersky™ Software Installed – KBA93563

Version: **

Question: While building a project, PSoC® Designer™ stops responding during the Generate/Build process, and Windows® Task Manager shows that make.exe is using 99 percent of the CPU. Why does this issue occur? What is the solution?

Answer:

This issue occurs on PCs with Kaspersky™ Antivirus or Internet Security installed. The antivirus software can block execution of the GNU Make tool that is used by PSoC Designer to compile and build projects.

To resolve this issue, use the following steps. If the exact antivirus program is not specified, the step is the same for both Kaspersky Antivirus and Internet Security.

  1.   Create exclusions for the PSoC Designer 5.4, make, and PSoCProgrammerCOM applications.

       Trusted Applications

    1.     Go to Kaspersky Settings > Additional > Threats and Exclusions > Manage trusted applications. Click Add, then click Browse… to browse to the PSoC Designer executable file as follows (assuming PSoC Designer is installed to the default location):

           On Windows 64-bit:
           C:\Program Files (x86)\Cypress\PSoC Designer\5.4\PSoC Designer\PSoCDesigner.exe

           On Windows 32-bit:
           C:\Program Files\Cypress\PSoC Designer\5.4\PSoC Designer\PSoCDesigner.exe

    2.
    3.     Select all of the exclusions for the PSoC Designer application in the opened tab, as shown in

    4.
    5.     Repeat the above steps for the following files:

           On Windows 64-bit:
           C:\Program Files (x86)\Cypress\PSoC Designer\5.4\Common\CypressSemiBuildMgr\tools\make.exe
           C:\Program Files (x86)\Cypress\Programmer\3.18.1\PSoCProgrammerCOM.exe

           On Windows 32-bit:
           C:\Program Files\Cypress\PSoC Designer\5.4\Common\CypressSemiBuildMgr\tools\make.exe
           C:\Program Files\Cypress\Programmer\3.18.1\PSoCProgrammerCOM.exe

    6.
  2.   This step is applicable for Kaspersky Internet Security only. Check the application status for PSoC Designer.

    1.     In the main Kaspersky window click the expand arrow to display all the green and white buttons. Click Application Control > Manage applications. In the search box type psoc.

    2.
    3.     Make sure that all PSoC items are in the Allow running group. If not, right-click the appropriate application and select Restrictions > Trusted.
    4.
  3.   If steps 1 and 2 do not resolve the issue, disable the Kaspersky System Watcher Component through Settings > Protection Center, as shown in Figure 4.
