S6BT112A can be evaluated by just replacing the LIN transceiver in an existing LIN system with S6BT112A, because S6BT112A has compatible pin assignment with LIN transceiver as shown in Figure 1.

Figure 1. Pin assignment: S6BT112A vs LIN transceiver

Figure 2 shows an example of S6BT112A connection that replaces the LIN transceiver in an existing LIN system by S6BT112A.

Pin 8 (CXPI: SELMS), which is not used in the LIN system, should be additionally connected to GND on the master node and connected to 5V (MCU power supply) on the slave node.

Pin 3 (CXPI: CLK), which is not used in the LIN system, should be connected to a clock of the baud rate frequency on the master node. The clock can be the MCU's PWM output or an external pulse generator. The clock does not need to be synchronized with the TXD / RXD signal. Also, leave Pin 3 of the slave node CXPI transceiver unused.

Pin 2 is sleep control for both LIN transceiver and S6BT112A. Fix S6BT112A to active state to evaluate the physical layer characteristic. For a LIN system that uses the sleep function, the Pin 2 wiring to the MCU port should be cut and re-connected to 5V (MCU power supply). For a LIN system that does not use the sleep function, there is no need to change the Pin 2 wiring.
