CSD and CSX Capacitors on PSoC 4 S-Series Devices – KBA221248

Question:

How do I connect the CSD and CSX capacitors on PSoC 4 S-Series devices?

Answer:

The following cases require configuring the capacitors on these devices.

Case 0 (CSX MODE):

Because the CSX mode does not have the water-proof functionality, this mode requires configuring only the CintA and CintB capacitors at P4[1] and P4[2]. Recommended values for CintA and CintB is 470 pF.

Case 1(CSD MODE):

If the project does not require the water-proof functionality, you need to configure the CMOD capacitor at P4[1],P4[2],P4[3]. The recommended value is 2.2 nF.

If the project requires the water-proof functionality, you need to use the CTANK capacitor configured at P4[1],P4[2],P4[3]. You can choose any of the three pins to configure CMOD and CTANK. The CTANK capacitor can decrease the system noise, but it is not mandatory.

Case 2 (CSD&CSX MODE):

If the project does not require the water-proof functionality, you need to configure CMOD at P4[1], CintA at P4[1], and CintB at P4[2].The recommended value for CMOD is 2.2 nF; for CintA and CintB, the recommended value is 470 pF.

If the project requires the water-proof functionality, you need to add only the shield pin. No pins are available to configure the CTANK capacitor.
