Locking Pins Using the Pin_Numbers Attribute

Version 1
    Question: 1)How do I lock pins in my designs? 2)How do I use the pin_numbers synthesis attribute?

    Often times, it is useful to lock specific signals to specific pins on the package. This can be achieved using a synthesis attribute called pin_numbers. Using this attribute statement, a signal can be locked to a specific pin number, specified by the user. An example of this is below.

    attribute pin_numbers of output1:signal is 23;

    This statement would lock the signal output1 to pin 23. The statement can be inserted in the architecture statement, after the declaration of the internal signals. Additionally, it can be included at the end of the entity declaration, after the port mapping.

    More examples of this can be found in Chapter 3 section 6 of the Warp User's Manual.
