Question: What is the difference between a field- and factory-programmed CY2291 or CY2292?
Answer:
Factory programmed devices are tested after programming in order to guarantee data sheet parameters.
Field programmed devices cannot be tested after programming so the frequency range is limited in order to guarantee operation across lot-to-lot variation.
If higher output frequencies are required, the CY22392 can be used which is an updated version of the CY2292.
