Validity of Input Frequency Change without Jedec File Change for CY25100

Question: Can we change the reference frequency without reprogramming the CY25100?

Answer:

This is not recommended and possible to get the desired output frequency without reprogramming as through the jedec file, the clock's register's values get changed. The clock device needs to know through these register values what is going to be provided at the reference and accordingly the expected output frequency with respect to the reference to adjust the VCO frequency as per the algorithm calculations.

So changing the Reference without changing the values in the registers using another jedec file with appropriate values can cause PLL instability.
