Question:
Does PSoC have Bluetooth radio or can we interface USB-Bluetooth modules with PSoC?
Answer:
PSoC 4 BLE families of devices from Cypress support a built-in Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) or Bluetooth Smart radio. See our BLE webpage for details.
The PSoC family of devices does not have an inbuilt Bluetooth Basic Rate (BR)/Enhanced Data Rate (EDR) radio. To interface USB-Bluetooth modules, the USB Host functionality is required, but PSoC has only a USB peripheral interface. PSoC can interface with Bluetooth modules that have serial communication interfaces like SPI, UART, I2C, and so on. Some of the manufacturers who offer such modules are listed below:
ESD100 from Lemos International
RN41 from Microchip
Note: Cypress neither offers any support for interfacing PSoC to any of the above modules, nor recommends the use of these modules. This list was picked from an internet search for Serial Bluetooth modules.
