Question: Can the I2C interface of EZ-USB be used for general purpose applications such as writing/reading to and from the internal registers of an I2C slave device?
Answer:
Yes, it is possible to access other I2C slave devices such as EEPROMs, RTCs, temperature sensors, etc. through the I2C-compatible interface.
However, the I2C-compatible interface cannot be mastered by an outside I2C controller, as the interface on the FX2 supports a master-only mode. In addition, the internal EZ-USB registers cannot be accessed via this interface.
