Question: - How is the arbitration register used in the PCI-DP? - Does the arbitration register prevent collisions?
Answer:
There are four arbitration flags within the Operation Registers that can be used to help the PCI bus and local bus decide on who has ownership of certain memory spaces. The arbitration flags are four pairs of bits which can be used to manage resource allocation and sharing between software and system processes. How these registers are used can be decided by the system designer.
