Question:

Regarding the S29GL-P, how does the WP# work with protecting the outermost (high or low) order sector address?

Answer:

The WP# input signal pin disables program and erase functions in the outermost (high or low) sector, dependent on the actual model number selected. For Model 02 devices, the lowest order sector address is protected; for Model 01, the highest order address sector is protected when WP# is connected to ViL or GND. Please refer to the datasheet "Ordering Information" page for specific details regarding the actual model numbers. As an example, for the S29GL256P, model 02, sector SA00 will be protected from program and erase functions when WP# is connected to ViL or GND.
