What is ReNumeration™?

ReNumeration™ - is Infineon's patented method by which the USB device can take on the identity of multiple USB devices by soft reconfiguration.

What is the purpose of ReNumeration?

- The ability to update your product firmware for your products remotely without having to burn it into the EEPROM. Since it is embedded in the driver, you simply distribute a new driver to the end-user.

- Some cost savings in using a smaller EEPROM.

What is multiple ReNumeration™? What is its use?

Multiple ReNumeration™ - EZ-USB (AN21xx/FX/FX1/FX2/FX2LP) firmware can renumerate anytime.

One use for this capability might be to 'fine tune' an isochronous endpoint's bandwidth requests by trying various descriptor values and renumerating.

How to disable ReNumeration™?

For projects based on our frameworks, using the Keil tools, you can prevent renumeration by adding NO_RENUM to the Define field under Preprocessor Symbols in the C51 tab. (Get to know more about renumeration process in "Renumeration Process for EZ-USB AN21xx"
