Question: Can the SMP be used as a step down converter with a PFET as a switch?
Answer:
Yes. The Switch Mode Pump (SMP) runs at 1.3MHz, so you need to watch what loads you put on it. You should provide a shunt path to the FET to provide a 100uA starting current.
