The Freescale Smart Application Blueprint for Rapid Engineering (SABRE) board for smart devices introduces developers to multicore processing, low-power consumption and leading-edge multimedia and graphics applications on the i.MX 6 series applications processors. The board simplifies product design with a low-cost, feature-rich development platform that allows developers to work with the majority of the processor’s primary features with the corresponding software support.
There are two unique SABRE boards for smart devices: One based on the i.MX 6Quad applications processors (also used for i.MX 6Dual development) and one based on the i.MX 6SoloX applications processor. At 7 x 6 x 1.2 mm, the Type ZX module (PN# LBWA17DZX6) is the smallest Wi-Fi module in the Murata portfolio. In addition to the Broadcom BCM43362 IC, this small, highly integrated module includes fast clock crystal, RF filter and RF switch. Minimal external circuitry is required to complete a radio design; add an antenna, power source, processor, and associated interface hardware and the radio hardware design is complete. The Type ZX is highly versatile as it can be implemented in a wireless LAN system utilizing a microcontroller or in a scenario with higher-throughput requirements employing a microprocessor.
